In order to implement improvements to alerting for Kentik Core and Protect we will undergo a series of scheduled changes.
We're expecting users may see their currently active alerts flap (clear and reactivate) during this time. You may experience brief alert-related service interruptions as we implement critical updates. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to improve your experience.
On-prem customers will not be affected at this time.
So what's changing for Core and Protect (DDoS) alerts?
1. 'Alert Status' and 'Ack Status' have been broken out into separate items and can both be searched independently. We've also improved the workflow for ack'ing alerts.
2. Comments can be added to any alert and will appear in the sidebar and on the Alert Details page.
3. 'Suppress' and 'Silence' were terms used interchangeably but are now two different concepts. 'Suppress' prevents new alerts of the same type from being generated. 'Silence' prevents notifications for an alert from being sent.
4. Acknowledgments can now be done to any alert, not just the ones that were "Acknowledgment Required".
In all, these changes will make Core and Protect alerts function more similar to those of NMS. on the Alerting page.
